What do I want to be when I grow up? That’s a question I have asked myself several times over the years. One thing that I do know is that I have always enjoyed being creative on the computer. First as an engineer creating designs or stylish presentations. When working as a computer teacher, my favorite time of the year was when I could teach my students web design, computer generated art or page layout for brochures or flyers.
I consider myself a lifelong learner. I enjoy learning new things and finding the solutions to problems. I earned my engineering degree from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo. Later I earned my Masters of Education. When my daughter was in high school trying to select a career choice, I tried to influence her to select Graphic Design. It finally occurred to me that I wanted her to follow my dream. We both loved art, but I loved creating things on the computer. So even though I have been designing projects for years on the computer, I finally decided to pursue a Graphic Design Certificate and a Web Design Certificate. What's next? I will probably continue to take classes or online tutorials. There is always something else to learn.
